A TELECOMMUNICATIONS company is promoting its mobile store, originally planned as a way to reach inaccessible areas, by putting it in the center of a fair for the Sinulog festivities.
The Globe Neon Carnival at the Cebu IT Park runs from Jan. 16 to 19 and features the Globe Mobility Store-on-the-Go, a mobile store featuring their lineup of prepaid, postpaid and Tattoo broadband offerings. The store also offers Sinulog deals for subscribers.
Globe retail transformation and management head Joe Caliro said the mobility stores was a concept they started in December last year. It’s a truck with all the services available in a retail store, except for bills payment. The trucks were meant to be deployed to areas that are far from urban centers to make it easier for clients to avail themselves of Globe’s services.
Caliro said the stores operate at half the cost of a retail store and the success of the concept has led the company to plan for the addition of more mobile stores. They currently have six and one of these will remain in Cebu even after the Sinulog.
Areas at least two or three hours’ drive from urban centers and those holding big festivals or big events will get to see the mobile store, like what they did at the Masskara festival. If it is proven that another store is needed in an area, Caliro said they might open up a retail store there, adding to their 168 stores nationwide.
Rather than have small areas around the city, Caliro said they opted to go big this year and occupy a block at the Cebu IT Park. “This is the biggest festival in the Philippines and we felt we should go bigger here,” he told reporters.
Along with the mobility store are booths from device partners showcasing their latest gadgets, game booths with prizes, and food and drink stations.
