Cebu grads top doctors’ board exam

CEBU CITY -- Two graduates of the Cebu Institute of Medicine (CIM) are in the top 10 of the recently concluded Physician's Licensure Exam.

Raymund Martin Sia Li topped the medical board exam with an average of 89.58 percent, while Debbie Rose Uy Tanengsy placed fifth with a rating of 89.17.


Li shared the top spot with Eric Royd Fanco Talavera from the University of Santo Tomas.

Both Li and Tanengsy are also registered nurses, having passed the Nursing Licensure Exam in 2009; Tanengsy was also in the fifth place then with a rating of 85.80 percent.

Li and Tanengsy are among the 2,218 of the 2,730 examinees who passed the medical board exam, held last month in Manila, Cebu and Davao.

Last year, two CIM graduates also made it to the top 10. Dr. Blake Warren Coloma Ang placed first while Dr. Alvin Christian Caminade Borbon placed seventh.

As in last year's medical board exam, CIM topped schools in terms of passing percentage, with all of its 103 takers this year passing the exam.

Cebu Doctors' University–College of Medicine is in eighth place with a passing percentage of 93.55 percent.

5. Scott Riley Kua Ong of UP-Manila (89.17 percent)

6. Charlie Alberca Clarion of Davao Medical School Foundation (88.92 percent)

7. Kevin Bryan Uy Lo of the University of Santo Tomas (88.75 percent)

8. Ann Norizal del Rosario Lopes of Far Eastern University-Nicanor Reyes Medical Foundation (88.50 percent)

9. Lorayne Ann Lim Chua of University of Santo Tomas (88.33 percent)

10. Ryan Anthony Francisco Agas of the University of Santo Tomas (88.25 percent)
