FRESH from his victory abroad, Dave Sebastian Mosqueda leads a total of 137 age-group netters partaking in the Powerade Tennis Challenge 2014, which formally opened Friday at the Nazareth Lawn Tennis Club in Barangay Nazareth, Cagayan de Oro City.

Tournament organizer Mario Inguito Craiz said Mosqueda’s presence alongside fellow seeded Audan Aaron Paduganan guarantees a high-wire action in the premier 18-under boys category.

“It’s great to have Dave around kay bag-o lang ni siya nag-champion sa ITF Juniors in Hongkong,” Craiz told Sun.Star Cagayan de Oro.

Deemed also to be a sure-fire hit is the unisex 10-under with no less than four of the region’s best achievers in said bracket -- Rupert Ohrelle Tortal, Brent Signmond Cortes, Prince Najeeb Langitao, Aston Benne Villanueva -- locked in another exciting rivalry.

“Kining upat gyod ang tunog kaayo sa unisex 10-under mao nga sure na malingaw na sab ang manan-away ini,” said the club’s resident conditioning coach Marlon “Pinggoy” Castro.

The Powerade Challenge, Craiz said, will be contested until Sunday. (LLS)
