UNDEFEATED Mark “Machete” Bernaldez of Butuan City headlines the Ala-Cobra Tunay na Lakas Boxing Tour, which takes centerstage Saturday at 6 p.m. in Barangay Lapasan's covered court in Cagayan de Oro.

Bernaldez, who won all of his 13 professional bouts, will share the ring with Ryan “The Street Fighter” Bongcawil of Malaybalay City, Bukidnon in the main tiff of the Cagayan de Oro pre-fiesta boxing extravaganza.

Fight organizers said among the victims of Bernaldez include WBC Asian Boxing Council Super Flyweight contender Khunkhiri Wor Wisaruth, WBO Oriental Featherweight challenger Marangin Marbun and WBO Asia Pacific Featherweight contender Arief Blader. All of them did not last the distance, making Bernaldez as the hands-down pick over Bongcawil whose own credential was bolstered when he strung up five-straight wins in December 2011 to May 2012.

Scheduled for 10 rounds, the Bernaldez-Bongcawil dukeout at 126 pounds will be supported by three 8-rounder fights pitting Elmo “Bisdak” Traya of Tabuelan, Cebu against Jesar Ancajas of Koronadal City (135 pounds); Brian Lobitania of Bukidnon versus Rowel Garcia of Koronadal City (118 pounds) and Jonas Sultan of Zamboanga del Norte opposite Renante Suacasa of Koronadal City (118 pounds).

At least two preliminary matches for four rounds (105 pounds) and six rounds (115 pounds) pit Cagayan de Oro pride Andrew Debucas against Prince Canonero of General Santos City and Jess Rhey Waminal of Don Carlos, Bukidnon versus Paolo Perono of General Santos City.

Cobra Tunay na Lakas Boxing Tour, organizers said, is created to promote young skilled professional boxers in the development of their potentials.

The program is also geared toward showcasing the country’s raw talents in boxing, as well as creating their local fan base being a non-TV fight in preparation for more possible big fights in the future.
