CAPITOL University plays host to this year’s 10th season of the Cagayan de Oro Schools Athletic Association (Cosaa) Meet, which formally opened in Cagayan de Oro in grandiose style at CU’s basketball gym on July 18.

“Last season kami man ang host and it was successful. Now, its CU’s turn to prove that they’re at par with Xavier University,” one XU coach told Sun.Star Cagayan de Oro.

Ballgame events kicked off the two-month long competition in at least 13 sports disciplines with basketball and volleyball competitions being played last Saturday and Sunday at the XU gym and CU volleyball court, respectively.

“Di lang mahibal-an nga ika-napulo ka tuig na karon sa Cosaa. And I’m very proud and honored to be one of the Cosaa Meet’s founding organizers,” said former XU gym manager Gerardo “Buboy” Sabal, now the pointguard of Misamis Oriental Governor Bambi Emano at Pelaez Sports Center.

Other Cosaa venues and game schedules are the following: soccer (July 27 to September at XU soccer field), arnis (August 23 at CU gym), karatedo (August 23 at CU gym), badminton (August 30-31 at CU gym), chess (August 23-24 at CU-AVR bldg.), lawn tennis (August 30 at Nazareth tennis court), sepak takraw (August 30 at CU gym), athletics (August 30 at Pelaez Sports Center), swimming (August 30 at Pelaez Sports Center), table tennis (September 6 at CU gym), and taekwondo on September 6 at CU gym.
