“BABY James” Abucejo, surviving a couple of nightmarish injuries, is finally back in the rugged court.

The Green CdeO Eagles Club welcomes the return of Abucejo in its basketball roster by picking the civic squad’s eight-straight win in the ongoing Kolambog, Lapasan hoopfest.

The sweet-shooting Abucejo, who just recovered from a busted tendon on both legs, was on duty in the club’s last two victories that saw him rifled 3-pointers, made a steal, converted freethrow shots and distributed the ball well alongside fellow backcourt guys Ulysses Romulo and Dondon Ratunil.

“He (Abucejo) was with the Green Eagles team when we won the Open tournament in Macasandig a while ago. We’re glad that he’s back unya makadagan bisan hinay-hinay lang,” said Arnel Baba, the vice president of the Green Eagles’ newly-minted chair Jun Gomez, who was also around when the club’s 40-above dribblers edged the Loloy Gelogo and Carlos Alvarez-led RB-Lapasan, 55-53 in their tense-filled encounter last Saturday.

Waway Arocha presided over Green’s offense as Dr. Wilboure Neri and Agapito Mercado took turn in trying to contain the “tura-tura” attack of Dahunan, RB’s biggest man on the floor next to Gelogo.

“After sa duha ka serious injury nga akong na-agian, okay na kaayo ang chance nga nakadula ko’g balik sa Green Eagles,” said Abucejo, once a Mythical Five in Oro Collegiate Basketball, who is now president of the city’s most popular basketball organization, Ballpals. (LLS)
