CdeO hosts Kiwanis Olympics-A A +A

THE Kiwanis International (KI) Philippine South District Division 4A of Cagayan de Oro held the annual invitational sports tournament dubbed as “Kiwanis Olympics 2013” at Marco Sports Club, Alwana Business Park in Barangay Cugman last Sunday.
Reynaldo F. Susana, KI Philippine South District Division 4-A Lieutenant Governor, said the sports competition aims to promote camaraderie and sportsmanship among all Kiwanians.
The Kiwanis Olympics was attended by hundreds of noble members and delegates from Cagayan de Oro City, Misamis Oriental and Iligan City Division 4B.
Susana said this year's olympics was hosted by the Kiwanis Division 4A Cagayan de Oro Chapter with the theme: “Unity in every Kiwanis undertaking.”
“The next annual sports fest will be in Iligan City to be hosted by the Kiwanis Division 4-B,” he said.
Earlier, Division 4-a assistant secretary Eldie Rotoras said Kiwanis Olympics is a yearly activity as Kiwanis Division 4A (Cagayan de Oro) and Kiwanis Division 4B (Iligan City) will compete jointly through sports.
The schedule of activities started in a motorcade around the city at 7:00 a.m. before going to Marco Sports Club where the olympics was held.
Registration started at 7:30 a.m. followed by the opening games at 8:00 a.m., which were held until 1:00 p.m.
Kiwanis Division 4A and Division 4B competed in basketball (men), volleyball (men and women), badminton (singles-doubles for men and women), table tennis (single men and women), dart, chess, tag of war and hitting the pot.
Kiwanis Division 4-B of Iligan City Chapter emerged as the overall champion.
