You cannot live without activism-A A +A

WHEN Department of National Defense Secretary Voltaire Gazmin challenged activists on why not elevate their activism against Chinese government's territorial bullying, instead of always picking the United States government's military presence in the country... from there, it blew out of the proportion in as far as understanding activism is concerned.
Gazmin's statements drew comments and those who favor with the Defense Secretary's words hastily concludes that “all” activists are sympathetic to communism... because... well... of "China." The fallacies of logic did not stop there.
Let's make this clear - an activist does not necessarily associated with communism or the communists - as what most of government officials or even ignorant civilians thought who did nothing but conform to the twisted social system.
It so happens that there are activists who are at the same time sympathetic to the communist cause thus some would go up to the mountains and be part of the guerilla fronts of New People's Army. But not all activists become communists as there are so many forms of activism - from the environment, human rights, and other social issues based causes.
I may not look or sound an activist but this holds true: both China and the United States governments are gaining something and we here in the Philippines are mere helpless puppets.
While the Chinese government and some of its machineries through businesses, continue to rape our natural resources and out jurisdiction, the US forces meanwhile penetrate us with good promises - or so we thought.
Let's also not forget while the GI Joes will stay longer here, it might become a good industry for flesh trades either with or without consent. It's money after all.
Gazmin's statements and the approval of his like-minded folks also manifest one thing: they had no idea.
If you will look life this way, there can be no societies if without activism, as it is fueled with progressive views and coupled with sacrifices of people who became martyrs in history and even to our independence as nation.
Activism is universal, whichever sides you are on. When you are against that Reproductive Health Law - that's activism. When you are in favor of that RH Law - that is still activism, especially that you want your side and position be heard and will have attention in order to achieve social changes. Although activism may have its pros and cons, from the peaceful to extremist standpoints, but the bottomline there is that even in your very home, between you and your family members, there is activism taking place.
Remember when you did not want your pet or toys be bullied or ruined by your other siblings to the extent you tell your parents about it?
And when all things fail, you resort to confronting it by making a progressive move to your sibling not to mess with your stuff again.
So let's stop this debate, we should not let the governments of China and the United States of America take advantage of us Filipinos even our government is apparently sucked into one side.
