The art of coincidence and assumption-A A +A

THE Catholic world must have been culture shocked on how Pope Francis awed the people with his simplistic and humble lifestyle and servitude, much to the shock of these so-called Catholic "traditionalists" when he performed to wash the feet of 12 youths during the Holy Week, where two of them are girls, and one, happens to be a Muslim.
News reports were quoted that "no pope in history has washed the feet of a woman, much less a Muslim." As a non-Catholic, I find Pope Francis a good friend to the world and an inspiration of peace to the diversity in humanity.
Now comes an announcement from the other side of the globe, where North Korean leader Kim Jung Un declared a "state of war" against South Korea, prompting allies siding allies where the United States and China will soon draw their lines too.
The irony is when the world has just witnessed a very influential spiritual leader, and then it seems it is also about to undergo a looming human-induced catastrophe should North Korea continue with its threats against other nations.
In the Philippines, the campaign period has just got even hotter along with the hot temperature it is experiencing for the sunny season, local elections has started and time is of the essence especially in Cagayan de Oro where the seat for mayoralty post is tightly contested.
Then suddenly, a survey showed up from Kinaadman Research Center of Xavier University yielded a data where incumbent mayor Vicente Emano still leads the survey with 34.5 percent followed by Misamis Oriental governor Oscar Moreno with 27.67 percent.
What makes it more interesting is that the 37.17 percent that's undecided whom to vote, that goes to say a very large chunk of meat waiting to be consumed by both parties. In this case, perhaps people in the field who know the handiworks of each of these politicians were telling the accurate details afterall.
Some of them will tell you that Emano is a very good strategist something Moreno needs to work out in the terrains of Cagayan de Oro. Some would say that if Emano may have a clout on barangay captains, but Moreno had the barangay councilors (Kagawad), especially those who also had the ambition to be the next chairperson of their respective villages.
And these officials in the barangay are important figures to swing the votes of their constituents, be it in the form of free kilos of rice and a promise to double the "pay" once he/she will win in the office.
Dirtier as the days get nearer to May 13, and worthy for their feet to be washed by Pope Francis.
