4th Infantry Division soldiers awarded

SOLDIERS belonging to the Philippine Army’s 4th Infantry Division (4ID) were awarded for rendering dedicated service in line of duty during the 44th founding anniversary of the 4ID on February 4.

The awardees who were recognized for their meritorious achievement include Staff Sergeant Francisco L. Gako, recipient of the Gold Cross Medal; Sergeant Ramil C. Alih, Corporal Marhabpan T. Camendan, Corporal Eldo E. Omila, Private First Class Antonio C. Abucejo Jr.; and Civilian Armed Forces Geographical Unit (Cafgu) Active Auxiliary William D. Alaba. They were all recipients of the Military Merit Medal.

Also, Captain Christian C. Uy, 4ID spokesman, said the 401st Infantry (Unity) Brigade and the 30th Infantry (Python) Battalion has been adjudged as best brigade and best battalion, respectively, for the year 2013.


During the evening parade, Uy said, the 4ID recognized its civilian partners who rendered support to the troops in the field, namely, Dr. Anna Liza Anoos Lerio, DMD, a dental officer of the Department of Education (DepEd) at Surigao City Division and Loreto town Mayor Dario Otaza of Agusan del Sur.

Defense secretary Voltaire Gazmin personally awarded the recipients who contributed to the various achievements of the unit.

In his speech, Gazmin commended Major General Ricardo Visaya, 4ID commander, “for sustaining the high standard of discipline, training and performance of the officers and men of the division.”

“These are the ideal qualities of the troops in the profession of arms. These are the norms that through the professional example of the 4th Infantry Division,” Gazmin added.

In his speech, Visaya highlighted and honored their predecessors, troopers and stakeholders for their contributions in the achievement of the division during the past year.

“As we continue another year of genuine and dedicated service, I enjoin all the stakeholders and the people of Northern Mindanao to join us, your army, in building a peaceful and progressive community,” Visaya said.

The celebration kicked off January 30 and concluded on Wednesday.
