EIGHT people are now languishing in jail following their arrests in two separate buy-bust operations by anti-illegal drugs agents in Barangay Barra in Opol town, Misamis Oriental Saturday afternoon and Sunday dawn.

Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Northern Mindanao Deputy Director Rayford Yap identified the suspects as Ringo Tolosa, Giovannie Abella, Nisan Tecson, Angela Sabella residents of Zone 5, Gordo in Barra, who were arrested Saturday evening.

Aragasi Tocalo, Minda Tocalo, Lito Tocalo and Dino Maghilom of Vamenta Subdivision in Barra were arrested on Sunday dawn.

The agents recovered from Tocalos and Maghilom seven grams of suspected shabu worth P56,000 and various drug paraphernalia. They will face charges of illegal possession of illegal drugs and in violation of Section 5 and 6 of Republic Act 9165, or for selling and maintaining a drug den.

Tolosa, 45, was the primary target of the operatives, Yap said.

Yap said they recovered approximately 10 grams of suspected shabu worth P80,000, various drug paraphernalia, one fourth teabag of suspected dried marijuana and three .38 caliber revolver and four live ammunitions from Tolosa’s possession while inside his house.

Abella, Tecson and Sabella were arrested for visiting a drug den in violation of Section 7 of RA 9165 or visiting a drug den.

Tolosa’s house was an alleged drug den where customers score or use illegal drugs, Yap added.

PDEA received information that Tolosa is allegedly involved in the series of robberies and house break-ins in Opol. Yap urged the town’s police and witnesses to coordinate with the PDEA-Northern Mindanao office for consolidation of charges to be filed against the suspect.

“Kung dili man gud sila moanhi, among i-file kang Tolosa, violation of RA 9165 lang,” Yap explained.

Yap said Tolosa would be charged with selling (illegal drugs), maintaining a drug den, possession of illegal drugs and illegal possession of drug paraphernalia.

Tolosa will also be charged with illegal possession of firearms and ammunitions.

The suspects are all temporarily detained at the PDEA detention cell, he said.

Yap is thankful to people who are constantly cooperating with the regional anti-illegal drugs agency for the success of their operations.

He urged the public to continue helping PDEA to stop the proliferation of illegal drugs by reporting to its office any drug-related activities.
