DESIGNING a masterpiece is a combination of passion and creativity. Threads woven to execute grace and style making a model become an instrument for the designer’s imagination to come to life. Truly, it is an inspiring tale between the muse and the artist.

In a night full of glamor, glitter and style, the twelve Miss Cagayan de Oro candidates wore MAGS dresses for their casual wear and the creations of the Oro Fashion Designer’s Guild last August 16, 2014 at Centrio Ayala Mall.

Clad in their midnight blue evening gowns, the candidates graced the catwalk giving their best for the last leg of the sub-competitions, the Evening Gown Competition and Mega Fashion Show, before the most awaited coronation night.

On preparing to claim the crown, the ladies revealed to us their activities to keep themselves beautiful, fit and ready for the big night.

Wearing Joshua Guibone’s design, candidate no. 2 Jessica Abines regularly exercises since the pageant started.

“I spend one hour in the gym for my workout. Also, I eat lots of nutritious food for me to stay healthy. Then I do pamper myself like go to the spa or the salon. It definitely helps me to be physically and emotionally ready for the big night,” Abines said.

Candidate no. 4 Rachel Tagapulot was all smiles for the camera in a Benjie S. Manuel evening gown.

“I continued with my routine everyday which is to be conscious of what I eat. I jog, do squats and curl ups to tone my body. Our sponsors made sure too that we are all pampered to be prepared [for the] coronation,” Tagapulot said.

Zhairra Bas, candidate no. 7 said that being in Ms. Cagayan de Oro made her outdo herself.

“I am a nursing student and it is given that I have a very tight schedule. With discipline, I was able to do my best while juggling my academics and the pageant. Everyday I asked for God’s guidance so that I can improve myself. This Saturday, I will step on the stage with a positive aura so that the judges and the crowd will be able to see that I deserve the crown,” Bas said with enthusiasm, who was also in a Benjie S. Manuel gown.

In a stunning ensemble by designer Ruvil Neri, candidate no. 9 Mitsume Aguilar said that she is currently focusing on the rehearsals and that she’s following a precise schedule of activities.

“Despite my responsibilities as a graduating student, a student assistant and a scholar, I am trying my best in everything I do. I pamper myself, eat well and rest well. I have asked for God’s guidance and protection as I enjoy and be grateful of what I have achieved now. I wish to inspire others with my story,” Aguilar said.

Looking gorgeous in a Gil Macaibay III design, Candidate no. 10 Beatrice Pohl said that the key is determination.

“Just like in any other game or competition, I need to prepare myself mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually. I’ve been vigilant in observing to grasp more information which will benefit me in becoming not only an ambassadress of our city but also in becoming a better individual. Not only do I keep myself healthy and fit, I also need to keep myself focused and intact. At all times, I know that God is with me,” Pohl said.

The other candidates also wore the designs of Alquin Capatan, Mark Yaranon, and Albert Rivera.

According to pageant head Gean T. Cesar, the fashion show was also a competition of who among the designers have the best gown creation and who among the candidates will win the best long gown award.

“We would like to congratulate everyone, because all of them are winners, all of them deserve the crown. However, there will be title holders. Whoever it may be, we hope that she will serve CdeO the best way possible in being the inspiration for the youth. Stay humble and put God first in everything you do,” Sean Oliver Moreno of JCI Kagayhaan Gold, said.
