PRIMAVERA Residences is pleased to showcase the works of local artist Nicolas Aca, Jr.

Since March 25, 15 of Aca's select artworks have been on display at the multipurpose hall of Primavera Residences. Art enthusiasts can view the exhibit for free until April 25.

The month-long art exhibit is a Primavera Residences initiative that aims to support the local art scene by featuring the works of Cagayan de Oro artists.

Nick Aca, Jr., as he is often called, is a celebrated visual and performance artist in this city known for his collage and assemblage works.

Aca previously showcased his works in an exhibit at the Singapore Art Museum in 2013 and more recently in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. At present, he is the resident artist and gallery curator at the Capitol University Museum of Three Cultures in Cagayan de Oro.

Among his select works on display at Primavera Residences is a masterpiece wood relief called "Poverty Lines." The wood relief is his take on the Philippine government's Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program, or 4Ps, which is a conditional cash transfer program created by the government to alleviate the health and education conditions of poor families.

Aca's "Poverty Lines" bespoke the alleged corruption that taints the program. Four acrylic on canvas artworks by Aca are also on display as well as a series of wood relief called "Dwelling."

Some of the artworks currently on display are tribute to women during the Women's Night celebration at Primavera Residences last month and speak about the preservation of Mother Earth.

Aca said that women should be proactive not just in preserving the environment but in helping alleviate the poor conditions of the less privileged.

Award winning

Primavera Residences is an award-winning, green condominium complex found within the Pueblo de Oro Business Park. It is the first eco-friendly property in Mindanao recognized by the Southeast Asia Property Awards (SEAPA) as the Best Condo Development in 2011.

Recently, it also won in the Asia Pacific regional competition of the prestigious International Property Awards in the Mixed-use Development category. The award will be formally given at an awarding ceremony in Kuala Lumpur on May 9.

Primavera Residences will be hosting more art exhibits from local artists in the coming months.
