RESIDENTS of Cagayan de Oro, in their work clothes and school uniforms, lined up at Krispy Kreme branches at Centrio and Lim Ket Kai malls on Monday, hoping to satiate their sweet tooth’s craving.

The day’s special? Original Glazed Doughnuts, a popular favorite among doughnut lovers.

In celebration of Krispy Kreme’s 77th birthday, their signature doughnut, the original glazed, is sold at P77.00 for every half dozen last July 14, 2014. All you need is a screen shot of their coupon online with the hashtag #JoyInABox.

The P77 price is a huge markdown from the original price which is P198.00 per half dozen of the original glazed.

According to Cheska Sarraga of Krispy Kreme Lim Ket Kai, people flocked only in the afternoon. “The morning wasn’t very crowded yet, maybe because everyone was still at school or at work.”

By lunch, Krispy Kreme’s two CdeO branches attracted looks from passersby because of the long line of eager buyers. Out of curiosity, passersby lined up too upon knowing about the discounted price.

“We wanted to reach out to people and for them to feel and be able to try the Krispy Kreme joy,” Sarraga said.

The two branches combined were able to sell about 3,000 boxes of half dozen doughnuts in one day. Most of their customers were students.
Brian, an MUST student, usually spends his free time at Krispy Kreme. “When I saw the promo online, I immediately told my classmates. Okay kaayo kay affordable siya for students like me.”

Last November 15, Krispy Kreme Philippines opened their 44th store and the 2nd hot light store in Mindanao at Lim Ket Kai’s Rosario Arcade.

Krispy Kreme’s original glazed is a recipe that started back in the 1930s, the doughnut recipe that brought Krispy Kreme all over the world and set a name over their competitors.

If you haven’t tried an Orignal Glazed Hot off-the-line yet, then you definitely need to try one.
