DTI turns over P7-M projects to SMEs-A A +A

PAGADIAN CITY -- The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI-9) turned over organic fertilizer processing machineries and equipments and sewing machines to two Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in the city last week.
DTI Regional Director Sitti Amina M. Jain led the launching, turnover and blessing of the organic processing facilities to the Danlugan Farmers’ Multi-Purpose Cooperative in Barangay Danlugan and five handicraft sewing machines to the Pagadian City Non-Formal Education Beneficiaries Multi-Purpose Cooperative at barangay San Pedro, all of this city.
Director Jain said: “This is our first time to provide these projects in Zamboanga del Sur particularly in the city of Pagadian under the so-called Shared Service Facility (SSF).”
The SSF is a banner program of Secretary Gregory Domingo, and it started only last year with a P7-million package and another P7 million for this year for the entire region, she said.
“SSF concept is designed to improve the productivity of our SME’s by providing new equipment, new technology, improve the efficiency of operations and the quality of the products they produce so that it will have easy access to the market,” Jain added.
Meanwhile, Zamboanga del Sur DTI Provincial Director Ma. Socorro M. Atay clarified that these facilities are being tagged with “Property of DTI” which means it is still the property of the government, but after two years of successful operations these equipment and facilities will be donated to the beneficiaries at no cost through a deed of donation.
The organic fertilizer processing facilities are composed of a shredding machine, vermicast separator, back trousers, sprayers, tanks, plows among others and the handicraft sewing machines with a total cost of P468 thousand and P138 thousand, respectively. (PIA)
