DTI-10 to launch SME Roving Academy today

THE Department of Trade and Industry 10 (DTI-10) launches today, July 15, the Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) Roving Academy that will benefit the SME in Northern Mindanao.

The program’s launch will be held at the Grand Caprice Restaurant, this city.

The SME Roving Academy will serve as a continuous breeding ground for start-up enterprises, said DTI Provincial Director Maria Eliza Pabillore.


It is an institutionalized provider of business development services (BDS) to identified SMEs to make them competitive in the domestic and export markets.

Further, its strategies include the establishment of national, regional and provincial entrepreneurship development networks, and the integration of the business development services for SMEs of various providers at the national and local levels, she added.

In the program, there will be presentations of business development services from DTI’s partner agencies and institutions as well as from their office.

The SME Roving Academy Framework will be discussed by Jerry Clavesillas, assistant director and officer-in-charge of the Bureau of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development.

Also, cooperating agencies particularly the Technical Educational Skills Development Authority, Mindanao Association for Quality, Inc., Northern Mindanao Food Safety Team, Department of Science and Technology, and DTI-10 will sign a memorandum of agreement for this program.

Cesar Travinia, an engineer and manager of the center for quality & productivity, will discuss "Knowledge Management: A Productivity Tool for" and finally would-be entrepreneurs will be given information on how to register their business.
