BFAR contractual workers get SSS coverage

THE Social Security system (SSS) and the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (Bfar) in Davao Region on Thursday signed an agreement to provide social security protection for contractual and job order (JO) employees of Bfar-Davao.

The Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) stipulates that the bureau’s contractual and job order workers must register in the SSS's e-AlkanSSSya Program. Bfar-Davao Regional Director Fatma M. Idris said 180 employees will be covered and their contributions deducted for their monthly pay.

Commercial fishing banned in Davao Gulf for 3 months

DAVAO Gulf will be closed to commercial fishing for three months starting June.

The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (Bfar) in Davao Region will deploy six vessels to enforce the ban, which will be in effect from June 1 to August 31, Bfar-Davao Regional Director Fatma M. Idris, told Sun.Star Davao.

Apo Agua Infrastructura Inc., a company formed by Aboitiz Equity Ventures (AEV) and J.V. Angeles Construction Corporation (JVACC), has signed an agreement with the Davao City Water District (DCWD) for the construction of the country’s largest private bulk water supply facility along with a fully renewable energy powered water treatment plant.
