DILG: Mayor Binay wrong in seeking court relief

MAKATI City Mayor Jejomar Erwin Binay Jr.'s decision to immediately raise his suspension for corruption allegations before the Court of Appeals (CA) was wrong, the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) said Wednesday.

DILG Undersecretary Peter Irving Corvera said Binay should have first exhausted all the possible legal remedies through the Office of the Ombudsman before he jumped for the assistance of the CA.

Quake jolts Surigao Norte

MANILA -- A magnitude 4.0 earthquake struck the province of Surigao del Norte on Wednesday morning, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).

In its bulletin, Phivolcs said the tremor occurred at 5:05 a.m. with the epicenter traced at 85 kilometers northeast of General Luna town in Surigao del Norte.
