Roxas: LP not engaged in politicking-A A +A
Friday, August 29, 2014
THE ruling Liberal Party (LP) was not engaged in politicking as its members were focused on governance, Interior and Local Government Secretary Manuel Roxas II said Friday.
"Alam niyo ang LP, ang partidong LP naniniwala that good service, good governance is good politics. Hindi kami namumulitika; wala kaming ginagawa for politics’ sake. Ang ginagawa namin, nakatutok kami sa mga trabaho namin; at ang taumbayan na ang siyang titimbang kung tama ba 'yung ginagawa," said Roxas in an interview in Oriental Mindoro where he joined President Benigno Aquino III in inspecting some infrastructure projects there.
Some LP officials have been pushing for Roxas to be their standard bearer in the 2016 presidential elections.
Debates recently cropped up after Aquino's interview on TV5 when he mentioned that he would listen to his bosses, the Filipino people, when asked about the possibility of him seeking for re-election.
While he continued to consult with the people, the President, in an interview by Bombo Radyo aired on Thursday, said he would step down from his post in 2016, apparently ending speculations about his supposed plan to extend his term.
Asked that he would again be LP's top contender for president after Aquino declared his intention of stepping down from his post comes 2016, Roxas said, "I think ‘yung pinakamahalaga rito ‘yung sinabi ng Pangulo, na bakit ba natin kailangan ng interpreter.
"Ang linaw-linaw ng sinabi ng Pangulo, na 'yon ang kanyang nakikita para sa sarili niya. Ganoon pa man ay pinapakinggan niya ang tinig ng kanyang mga boss," said Roxas
