THE Palace admitted Saturday that it was taking seriously the incident that took place Friday afternoon when an armed woman tried to enter one of the buildings inside Malacanang compound.
In an interview over dzRB, Deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte hailed the members of the Presidential Security Group (PSG) for their immediate action of preventing the woman, identified as Flora Pineda, who was carrying a loaded .45 caliber pistol, from entering the New Executive Building (NEB).
"Of course, we take any incident like this seriously that is why the PSG immediately conducted their own investigation. Na-turn over ang babae sa police members ng PSG when she was apprehended," she said.
With what happened, asked of the implication on the security of President Benigno Aquino III, Valte said, "Ang implikasyon ho sa seguridad ng Pangulo ay, una, ginagawa ho ng PSG 'yung kanilang tungkulin at ipagpapatuloy po nila 'yung pagbabantay, hindi lang sa Pangulo ngunit doon sa mga taong umiikot po sa lugar na pinagtatrabahuhan ng ating Pangulo."
Pineda went to Malacanang reportedly to ask Aquino to step down for his alleged failure to improve the lives of the Filipinos.
The PSG turned over Pineda to Manila Police District for further investigation and possible filing of charges. (SDR/Sunnex)
