Magnitude-5 quake jolts Sarangani

A MAGNITUDE-5 earthquake jolted the province of Sarangani at 1:24 p.m. Thursday, the state seismologists said.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said on its website that the epicenter of the earthquake was located at 141 kilometers (km) southeast of Sarangani, Davao Occidental.

The tremor, which is tectonic in origin, has a depth of 6 km.

Phivolcs said there were no intensities felt in the area and no expected aftershocks. (Sunnex)
