Portions of Naga highway closed to traffic Tuesday-A A +A
Monday, August 4, 2014
CEBU CITY -- The City Government of Naga announced Monday that portions of its highway will be closed to traffic on Tuesday for the cutting down of century-old trees.
Areas that will be affected include Barangays Tinaan, Inoburan and Langtad, said the City of Naga Public Information Office in an advisory.
The riding public is hereby advised to leave home early, as the building up of traffic is expected to occur once the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) starts cutting down the trees at 9 a.m.
The clearing operation will end at 4 p.m.
The highway will also be closed temporarily to traffic for at least an hour, when the wrecking crew will cut the first acacia tree along the Tinaan highway near the Apo Cemex complex, the office added.
Light vehicles can take an alternative route that will pass through the privately-owned Balili property in Barangay Inoburan. The diversion road, however, cannot accommodate cargo trucks, buses and heavy equipment.
Cebu City-bound light vehicles must turn right upon reaching a corner leading to Inoburan fish port, which will serve as the entry point of the alternative route. These vehicles will exit at an access road in Barangay Tinaan.
In turn, southbound light vehicles are advised to take the same alternative route. (Sun.Star Cebu/Sunnex)
