MANILA – President Benigno Aquino III in his State of the Nation Address (Sona) on Monday said the country's economy is finally taking off, citing investment grade status from Moody’s, Fitch Group and Standard and Poor's.

He also mentioned the record drop in the country's poverty level from 27.9 percent in the first semester of 2012 to 24.9 percent in same period of 2013.

"Namumuhunan po tayo sa pinakamahalagang yaman ng bansa: ang taumbayan," he said.

The budget for the government's expanded conditional cash transfer program has been increased to P12.3 billion starting July.
