MANILA -- Typhoon Henry (Matmo) weakened into a tropical storm and is now out of the Philippine Area of Reponsibility (PAR), while a low pressure area (LPA) is moving closer to Visayas, the state weather bureau said Wednesday.
In its 11 a.m. weather bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Henry is heading toward Taiwan.
The tropical storm was packing maximum winds of 110 kilometers per hour.
Pagasa is also monitoring a new LPA spotted at 1,030 kilometers (km) east of Visayas.
Pagasa Visayas chief Engr. Oscar Tabada earlier said that the new weather disturbance will be called “Inday” once it enters Philippine territory.
The state weather bureau said Luzon and Western Visayas will experience monsoon rains.
It added that the rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.
"Moderate to strong winds blowing from the southwest will prevail over Luzon and Visayas," Pagasa advised. (Sunnex)
