MALACANANG wondered Thursday how President Benigno Aquino III and some members of the Cabinet, among others, could help alleged plunderer Senator Ramon Revilla Jr. on his case.

In a regular press briefing, Presidential Spokesperson Edwin Lacierda said it would be up to the Sandiganbayan if it would summon the President.

"It will be interesting to know how the appearance of the President and I understand the other members of the Cabinet will prove his defense that he did not personally gain from the funds from the PDAF (Priority Development Assistance Fund)," he said.

Revilla has asked the anti-graft court to allow Aquino and some of his Cabinet officials to testify in court to reportedly prove his innocence in the pork barrel scam.

Lacierda said he was not clear how Aquino could help Revilla considering that the senator allegedly misused his PDAF when Aquino was not yet the President.

"It is very interesting to know that, since he is going to present them as his witnesses, how will the appearance or their testimony add any iota of defense or assistance to his claim that he did not profit because obviously this is a case of plunder against him so he has to prove that he did not personally gain from the PDAF scam. Seriously, it is just interesting to know how it will add to his defense," he explained.

Revilla was one among the three senators facing plunder and graft cases in relation to PDAF mess. The two other senators were Juan Ponce Enrile and Jinggoy Estrada. (SDR/Sunnex)
