MANILA (Updated) -- Senator Juan Ponce Enrile's lawyers filed Monday a motion before the Sandiganbayan requesting the Senate Minority Leader be held under hospital arrest, citing the lawmaker's advance age and frail medical condition.

"[The] accused Enrile prays that the Honorable Court temporarily place him under hospital confinement at the PNP (Philippine National Police) General Hospital at Camp Crame, Quezon City," the motion read.

Enrile has been detained at the PNP General Hospital in Camp Crame, Quezon City over plunder and graft charges in connection with the alleged misuse of Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF).

Over the weekend, the former Senate President underwent medical checkups for his macular degeneration at the Asian Eye Institute in Makati City.

Enrile faces plunder, a non-bailable offense, and 15 counts of graft for alleged amassing P172 million in kickbacks from 2004 to 2012.

The senator turned himself in to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) in Camp Crame hours after the Sandiganbayan third division issued an arrest warrant against him and his co-accused in the plunder charges Jessica "Gigi" Reyes, John Raymund de Asis, and Ronald John Lim.

Reyes, Enrile's former chief of staff, surrendered to the Sandiganbayan Friday. She is detained at the basement jail of the anti-graft court.

Reyes' lawyers filed Monday an urgent motion requesting the third division to transfer her to the PNP Custodial Center in Camp Crame, citing security reasons.

Meanwhile, the third division issued Monday arrest warrants against Enrile's co-accused in the graft cases.

Ordered arrested were Jose Antonio Evangelista II, Francisco Figura, Marivic Jover, Antonio Ortiz, Alan Javellana, Maria Julie Villaralvo-Johnson, Romulo Relevo, Chita Jalandoni, Filipina Tolentino Rodriquez, Emmanuel Alexis Sevidal, Sophia Daing Cruz, Gondelina Amata, Ofelia Ordoñez, Mario Relampagos, Rosario Nuñez, Lalaine Paule, Marilou Bare, Jo Christine Napoles, James Christopher Napoles, Eulogio Rodriguez, Dorilyn Agbay Fabian, Nitz Cabilao, and Renato Ornopia.
