THE Philippine National Police (PNP) is set to observe the original visiting hours set by Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) for the high-profile detainees at its custodial center in Camp Crame.

PNP Public Information Office (PIO) chief Reuben Theodore Sindac said detained senators Jose "Jinggoy" Estrada and Ramon "Bong" Revilla Jr. will be allowed to receive visitors every Tuesday to Friday, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., and every Saturday and Sunday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

"Monday is general cleaning day and laundry day," he said.

Sindac said lawyers, physicians and spiritual advisers of the two senators who are facing plunder, a non-bailable offense, and graft will still be allowed to visit anytime but "with prior notice."

Estrada and Revilla were charged before the anti-graft court Sandiganbayan over their alleged links to the pork barrel fund anomaly.

Earlier, the custodial center customized its visitation rules for the high-risk detainees, Revilla, Estrada and other would-be detainees.
The two senators were allowed to receive visitors every Thursday and Sunday, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

However, reports said the visiting hours were not followed as family, friends and allies of the two detained legislators stayed in their detention cells beyond the period set by the detention facility.

Last Sunday, June 29, several visitors of the two senators who arrived around 9 a.m. reportedly stayed until 1 a.m. of next day, June 30.

On Monday, PNP chief Director General Alan Purisima has already ordered Superintendent Mario Malana, chief of the PNP Custodial Center, to explain what happened. (Sunnex)
