ZAMBOANGA CITY (Updated) -- A Chinese businesswoman and her daughter were seized by a group of gunmen clad in camouflage uniforms and bonnet masks in the province of Basilan, a police official said.
Isabela City police commander Superintendent Albert Larubis said the incident took place around 9:35 p.m. Thursday in the village of Port Area, Isabela City, the capital of Basilan province.
Larubis identified the victims as Dina Eraham, 45, and her daughter, Yahong Tan, 19, who are natives of China but had been staying and operating a videoke house, named Dalby’s, along I. Magno Extension in Port Area.
Larubis said the victims were inside the videoke house when at least 10 gunmen arrived and introduced themselves as operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.
The gunmen then grabbed the victims and dragged them to the shore. The victims were forced to board on two motorboats that sped toward Panigayan Island.
Larubis said policemen and the military forces are tracking down the victims' whereabouts. (Sunnex)
