THE camp of whistleblower Benhur Luy urged state prosecutors on Thursday to look into the option of asking for a second opinion from other government doctors regarding the health condition of alleged pork barrel scam head Janet Napoles.

This developed after Napoles asked the Makati court hearing her serious illegal detention case to delay her transfer to the Fort Sto. Domingo in Sta. Rosa, Laguna due to vaginal bleeding brought by diabetes and stress from preparing her testimony on the scam.

"We urge our state prosecutors to demand for the diagnosis and methodology of how JLN's (Napoles) doctors examined her alleged bleeding and explain their conclusion," said Luy's lawyer Raji Mendoza in a text message.

Napoles is scheduled to be returned to her detention cell on Friday but her lawyers asked Judge Elmo Alameda of the Makati Regional Trial Court branch 150 to reconsider.

In an urgent motion, her lawyers said Napoles should not be moved out of the Ospital ng Makati "until such time that the cause of her bleeding is determined and given proper medical attention and only after physicians recommend her anew for discharge."

Napoles also assured the public that she is not feigning illness to prolong her hospital stay.

The businesswoman, who was accused of giving hefty payoffs to lawmakers for diverting their Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) to her fake foundations, went under the knife on April 23 to remove her uterus and two ovaries due to a cyst. (Sunnex)
