A BUKIDNON-based businessman was accused of not paying P16.31 million to the government in 2010 and 2011, a complaint filed with the Department of Justice (DOJ) showed Thursday.
Charged with tax evasion by the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) was Hernane Ayon, sole proprietor of H.A. Herbal Marketing, Nanz Signature Salon and Harley's Car Service Center in Valencia City, Bukidnon.
Ayon's complaint was an offshoot of the BIR's investigation of the tax liabilities of Jo-Ann Grino, owner of AG Global Pharma in Valencia City, who made substantial purchases from H.A. Herbal Marketing.
After securing details of Global Pharma's purchases and official receipts from H.A. Herbal Marketing, the BIR discovered that Ayon had P8.13 million and P11.55 million in gross sales in 2010 and 2011, respectively.
He declared total sales of only P67,472.30 in third quarter of 2010 despite earning P3.05 million from Global Pharma, for an underdeclaration of P2.98 million.
He also failed to file his fourth quarter VAT return in 2010 and all the four quarterly VAT returns for 2011 "despite earning a sizeable amount of income" during those periods, the BIR said.
Ayon's tax deficiency, including surcharges and interests, was broken down into: 2010 – P7.47 million (income tax - P5.58 million and VAT - P1.89 million); and 2011 - P8.84 million (income tax - P6.28 million and VAT - P2.56 million). (Sunnex)
