5.7 magnitude quake hits Davao Occidental

DAVAO CITY -- A magnitude-5.7 earthquake struck Sarangani in Davao Occidental Friday afternoon, said the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).

Phivolcs said the tremor occurred around 1:44 p.m. and was located at 31 kilometers (km) southeast of Sarangani province. The quake, which was tectonic in origin, had a depth of 113 km.

Intensity IV was felt in Davao City and Mati City in Davao Oriental.

Intensity III was felt in Bislig, Surigao del Sur and Tagum City.

Intensity I was felt in Gingoog, Misamis Oriental.

Phivolcs said aftershocks are expected, but no damage was reported after the tremor. (Sunnex)
