MANILA -- Television host Vhong Navarro met his attackers on Tuesday during a hearing of the serious illegal detention case he filed against a group of men led by businessman Cedric Lee before the Taguig City Regional Trial Court.

Aside from Navarro, present during the preliminary hearing at Taguig RTC branch 271 were accused Lee, Zimmer Raz and model Deniece Cornejo, who stayed overnight in Camp Crame on Monday following her surrender to Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Alan Purisima.

It was the group's first meeting after the mauling of Navarro at a posh condominium unit in The Fort in Taguig City four months ago.

Cornejo was presented in court earlier in the day and was arraigned on the serious illegal detention case, a non-bailable offense.

The court entered a not guilty plea for Cornejo when she refused to enter a plea to the charge, said Navarro's lawyer Alma Mallonga.

Cornejo will remain in Camp Crame in Quezon City while waiting for the court's decision on her camp's motion to stop her transfer to the Taguig jail.

The PNP's Criminal Investigation and Detection Group placed Cornejo in a regular cell at the Anti-transnational Crime Unit with 14 other detainees.

Lee and Raz, on the other hand, will still stay at the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) headquarters in Manila as the court did not rule on the accused's motion for continued detention at the NBI.

Presiding judge Esperanza Paz Cortes will hold another hearing on May 16 to tackle the bail petition of Lee and Raz.

Lee and Raz are also facing grave coercion cases in relation to the assault at Taguig Metropolitan Trial Court branch 74. (Sunnex)
