Aquino: Choose next leaders who will continue reforms-A A +A
Thursday, May 1, 2014
PRESIDENT Benigno Aquino III on Thursday asked the public to choose next leaders who will continue the reforms that his administration has started.
Aquino made the appeal following a Pulse Asia survey showing Interior and Local Government Secretary Manuel Roxas II, believed to be the standard bearer of administration Liberal Party in the 2016 presidential elections, only ranked fifth on a list of "preferred presidential" candidates.
Roxas only obtained 6 percent of the votes among 1,200 respondents, far behind from the 40 percent received by Vice President Jejomar Binay, the most preferred presidential candidate.
The President thanked the people of Laguna for their support on him when he ran for president in 2010 and for senator in 2007.
He said the reforms in the country could have been done long before if only the previous leaders did not think of their own self-interest.
(SDR/Sunnex)
