CEBU CITY -- Cebu Archbishop Jose Palma urged the faithful to keep their faith alive as they renew their baptismal rites in welcoming the resurrection of Jesus Christ on Easter Sunday.

Filipinos in Cebu and other parts of the Philippines once again celebrated Sunday dawn the "Sugat," a reenactment of the meeting between the Virgin Mary and the Risen Christ.

In Cebu City, Palma spearheaded the Sugat followed by the Easter Mass at 5 a.m. Sunday at the Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral.

In his homily, Palma called on the people to renounce evil.

The archbishop added that Christians should not forget to thank Jesus Christ for the gift of hope the King has given to mankind.

"Si Kristo nabanhaw, Siya ang kinabuhi," he said.
