5.5-magnitude quake jolts Sultan Kudarat

A magnitude 5.5 earthquake jolted Sultan Kudarat Province in Mindanao Thursday noon.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the quake was recorded at 12:38 p.m., with the epicenter at 244 kilometers southwest of Palimbang in Sultan Kudarat.

It has a depth of 584 kilometers and is tectonic in origin, the Phivolcs stated in its website.

There are no aftershocks expected, the Phivolcs said. (Sunnex)
