MANILA -- The Philippine Embassy in Bangkok strongly called on Filipinos in Thailand on Friday to maintain extra vigilance amid the continuation of political demonstrations in the said country.

In an advisory, the Embassy said there is no reason to be lax when going or staying in Bangkok and other critical parts of the host country despite the lowering of the Crisis Alert Level from "2" to "1" there.

"The Philippine Embassy advises Filipinos with essential travel plans to, and those residing in Bangkok and other parts of Thailand, to exercise extra vigilance and observe safety precautions," said the Philippine Embassy.

It said Filipinos must avoid large crowds and demonstrations while also refraining from participating and/or showing support in any form to any of the parties.

Filipino nationals are also being urged to always be vigilant and closely monitor developments in the political situation of Thailand.

Finally, it said concerned individuals should not hesitate to contact the Embassy in any case of emergency through telephone number (+662) 259-0139/40 or (+662) 258-5401; hotline (+668) 99265954; e-mail: or; fax: (+662) 259-2809; website:; and Facebook:

Back in January, the DFA raised Alert Level 2 in Bangkok, Nonthaburi, as well as in Lad Lum Kaew and Bang Phli districts in the Provinces of Pathum Thani and Samut Prakan, respectively.

This was after the Thai government placed these areas under State of Emergency due to the growing political demonstrations against the former.

Last month, the Alert Level was lowered to "1" with the lifting of the State of Emergency by the Thai government.

However, the DFA pointed that political demonstrations continue to be held there making it necessary to maintain vigilance. (HDT/Sunnex)
