JAPAN will extend 1.165 billion yen or approximately P510 million grant aid to Cebu to improve water supply in the province, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said Tuesday.

The grant aid for the improvement of water supply of the Metro Cebu Water District will be implemented by the Metropolitan Cebu Water District to provide efficient and reliable potable water supply to Metro Cebu, the department said.

The grant aid for Metro Cebu Water District was one of the three grant aid projects that Japan would be extending to the Philippines.

The other two include grant aids for the project for enhancement of coastal communications system worth 1.152 billion yen or around P507 million, and for rehabilitation and recovery from Typhoon Yolanda worth 4.6 billion yen or approximately P2.024 billion.
