MANILA -- Doctors who checked the medical condition of alleged pork barrel scam architect Janet Lim-Napoles on Friday did not see any urgent need for the detained businesswoman to be confined in a hospital.

Napoles left her detention cell on Friday morning to ask the Makati Regional Trial Court (RTC) handling the serious illegal detention case filed against her to allow her to be confined and undergo surgical procedure at the St. Luke's Medical Center in Quezon City.

The teary-eyed Napoles complained before Makati RTC Judge Elmo Alameda of massive abdominal pain and heavy menstrual bleeding, which doctors say can lead to cancer if not immediately treated.

After conducting several tests on Napoles, such as, blood examination, ECG and ultrasound, Ospital ng Makati director Dr. Perry Peralta said Napoles's condition was "stable" and there was "no need for her to undergo emergency surgery."

Earlier, Alameda said that if the court decides to approve Napoles's motion, she should be admitted in a government hospital. The court suggested public hospitals, such as, Southern Luzon Hospital, Philippine General Hospital and Ospital ng Makati in Pembo, Makati.

On February 26, Napoles underwent medical check-up at the Philippine National Police General Hospital (PNP-GH) for the same reasons.

After the check-up, PNP-GH doctors found a mass in Napoles's uterus but they said her condition is "not life threatening."

However, PNP-GH health services director Chief Superintendent Alejandro Advincula did not give any further information about her health condition because of the "patient-doctor confidentiality."

After the check-up, Napoles was brought back to the Fort Sto. Domingo in Sta. Rosa, Laguna where she has been detained since 2013 for the illegal detention pork barrel scam main whistleblower Benhur Luy. (Sunnex)
