DETAINED businessman Delfin Lee will be summoned by the Senate housing committee to its investigation on the P6.6-billion Globe Asiatique scam, panel chairman Senator JV Ejercito said Wednesday.

"(The) Senate would like to inquire and investigate on the policies of Pag-Ibig then how this double sale of housing units occurred," Ejercito posted in his official Twitter account.

Lee was arrested last March 6 at the Hyatt Hotel in Malate, Manila. He is facing charges of syndicated estafa.

The housing developer allegedly used ghost borrowers and fake documents to obtain P6.65 billion in loans from the Home Development Mutual Fund (HDMF or Pag-Ibig Fund) in 2009.

"(The) Senate probe on Delfin Lee's Globe Asiatique transactions will protect people from future 'manipulative' and 'anomalous' housing loan schemes," Ejercito said.

The senator said the investigation will start "in two to three weeks" after the Senate committee secretariat has communicated with the possible resource persons.

Lee is presently detained at the Pampanga provincial jail.

Earlier this week, Lee asked the Supreme Court to side with the Court of Appeals ruling that lifted the arrest warrant against him. The CA decision is not in effect after it was blocked by a temporary restraining order. (Sunnex)
