CEBU CITY -- An estimated P100,000 worth of hospital equipment was lost in a fire that hit a hospital department in this city, a fire officer said Friday morning.

SFO2 Daniel Relatado, of the Cebu City Fire Department, said the fire hit the hemodialysis section located at the ground floor of the Cebu North General Hospital.

Relatado said they received the fire alarm at 5:45 a.m. and the blaze was declared under control at 5:55 a.m.

Initial investigation showed that no one was inside the room when the fire started.

The fire officer said that electrical wiring may have caused the fire, adding that most of the equipment was allegedly plugged in for 24 hours.

Further investigation is underway to identify the cause of the fire. (Sunnex)
