Friday, March 7, 2014
MANILA -- The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said on Friday that good weather is expected to prevail in most parts of the country for the next two to three days.
Pagasa weather forecaster Gener Quitlong said northeast monsoon continues to be the dominant weather system affecting Luzon and Visayas.
He noted that the country will continue to be spared from cyclones until Sunday.
In the next three days, he said Visayas and Luzon, including Metro Manila, will continue to have sunny to partly cloudy skies with possible isolated light rains due to the effect of the northeast monsoon.
The temperature in Metro Manila will range 21-32 degrees Celsius for Friday.
On the other hand, Mindanao will be partly cloudy to cloudy with possible afternoon or evening rains due to localized convection.
Pagasa expects "zero to one" storm to enter the country this month.
For Friday forecast, Pagasa said Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon and Visayas will have fair weather aside from isolated light rains while Mindanao will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.
It added moderate to strong winds from the northeast will prevail over the eastern sections of Luzon and Visayas and the coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough.
Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from the northeast with slight to moderate seas.
The state weather bureau also issued gale warning as strong to gale-force winds associated with the northeast monsoon, will affect the eastern seaboard of the southern Luzon and Visayas.
"Fishing boats and other small seacrafts are advised not to venture out into the sea while larger sea vessels are alerted against big waves," it warned. (PNA)
