BAGUIO CITY -- Kamora National High School from Kabayan, Benguet once again wowed the audience and judges in Saturday’s Panagbenga street dancing competition, as it was named champion in the open category.

The group, whose entry was the Adivay Festival of Benguet, also appeared to be the crowd’s favorite in Saturday’s event held at this city’s Athletic Bowl. Its performance focused on “a local folktale that involved man’s relationship with the four elements of nature: earth, wind, fire and water.”

Named second-placer was the Baguio City National School-Main campus, while on third place was Pinsao National High School, whose “Sakusak” Traditional Ensemble presented a ritual about nature.

In the elementary division, Mabini Elementary School emerged victorious and won P130,000 for being the champion.

Other winners in the elementary category include: Baguio Central Elementary School (2nd place), Baguio Sped Center (3rd place), Quezon Hill Elementary School (4th place), and Jose P. Laurel Elementary School (5th place).

Nine contingents vied Saturday for the title in the elementary division of the Panagbenga street dancing competition, while six groups performed for the Open Category.

The performances Saturday were all in line with this year’s theme, “Inspiring the community for a greener tomorrow.”

Baguio City Mayor Mauricio Domogan opened the activity Saturday, along with Baguio City lone district Representative Nicasio Aliping.

Domogan, in his welcome address, urged the people of Baguio to let their spirits bloom like flowers, and continue to inspire others. (LMY/Sunnex)
