LEMERY, Batangas -- Police and arson investigators started Monday their investigation on the burning of about eight passenger buses owned by Jam Liner Bus Company at its Batangas terminal here on Sunday dawn.

Police Officer 3 Omar Garcia Salanguit, lead investigator, said they questioned Monday the bus company employees. In the meantime, he said the transport firm official representatives are set to issue their depositions to the Lemery police Monday and Tuesday.

The bus firm employees and witnesses initially reported that about 14 armed men in camouflage uniforms set the buses ablaze Sunday dawn.

Initial police investigation theorized extortion by lawless elements as possible motive in the incident.

No one was hurt in the incident but police here have launched intensive operations to hunt the persons responsible. (PNA/Sunnex)
