MANILA (Updated) -- Police anti-cybercrime agents have arrested 10 South Korean nationals for allegedly operating an illegal online gambling site in a posh apartment in Taguig City.

Senior Superintendent Gilbert Roa said Wednesday that the eight men and two women were caught inside two separate units at the east tower of the upscale One Serendera condominium in Bonifacio Global City.

He said Tuesday's raid stemmed from a request from South Korean authorities in December 2012 for help in locating eight fugitives who allegedly fled Seoul and moved their illegal online gambling operation to the Philippines.

The gambling site receives payments from Korean bettors via online banking and credit cards.

Roa said two of the men arrested in the raid were among those wanted in Seoul. They were identified as Lee Youn Ju andJin Ho Lee.

Confiscated from them were phones, identification cards, computers and network devices, among others. (AP/VR/Sunnex)
