MALACANANG on Tuesday said that the Office of the President has started to look into the administrative complaint against Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) chairperson Zenaida Ducut.

Presidential Communications Operation Office Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. said that a new division under the Office of the Executive Secretary is the one handling the case filed by Akbayan against Ducut for allegedly abandoning her duty to protect consumers from a power rate hike.

The Investigative and Adjudicatory Division of the Office of the Deputy Executive Secretary for Legal Affairs, which replaced the Presidential Anti-Graft Commission, under the office of Deputy Executive Secretary for Legal Affairs Michael Aguinaldo is now probing on the ERC chair, he said.

"Natanggap nila ang complaint ng Akbayan, at sinimulan na ang pagsiyasat nito," Coloma said at a media briefing.

Coloma earlier said there was no basis for asking Ducut to resign or take a leave of absence while investigation has been ongoing. (SDR/Sunnex)
