LPA dissipates; rains to persist-A A +A
Wednesday, January 22, 2014
MANILA -- The low pressure area (LPA) that has been lingering in the country for more than a week has dissipated Wednesday morning.
The weather bureau, however, said Eastern Visayas and Mindanao would still experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
The northeast monsoon is still expected to affect the seaboards of Luzon and Eastern Visayas.
Small sea crafts and fishing vessels are also advised not to venture out into the sea due to big waves generated by the weather system.
The LPA entered the Philippines on January 10 and intensified into Tropical Depression "Agaton," killing at least 40 people and leaving thousands of families displaced in Mindanao. (Sunnex)
