MANILA -- The state weather agency advised people residing in several areas in Mindanao over light to moderate to occasionally heavy rain on Wednesday.
Rain may continue for two to three hours over portions of Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, Zamboanga peninsula, Basilan, Maguindanao, Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Bukidnon, Misamis Oriental, Sarangani, Lanao del Sur.
At 4 a.m., the low pressure area (LPA) was spotted at 100 kilometers (km) east of Borongan, Eastern Samar, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.
Due to the LPA, "The regions of Bicol, Eastern and Central Visayas, Caraga and Northern Mindanao will experience cloudy skies with moderate to occasionally heavy rain showers and thunderstorms which may trigger flashfloods and landslides," said Pagasa.
Independent weather information provider Weather Manila posted in its Facebook account, "The persistence of the LPA in Mindanao (which most likely will not get any stronger) will bring severe amounts of rain until at least mid next week. Large parts of Visayas and Mindanao will be affected."
Meanwhile,"Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Western Visayas and the rest of Mindanao will have cloudy skies with light to moderate rain showers and thunderstorms," it added.
The Northeast Monsoon continues to affect Northern and Central Luzon.
Pagasa said, "Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will be cloudy with isolated light rain." (SFP/Sunnex)
