CEBU CITY -- For the second time in a row, Talisay Central School bested other contingents in the Sinulog sa Kabataan sa Lalawigan as it emerged champion in the elementary division of the competition Saturday.

The school, whose performance Saturday was choreographed by Marvey Caño, also got the Best in Costume and Best in Musicality awards. It also emerged as the most applauded contingent.

In the secondary division, Tuburan National High School, which landed second in last year's Sinulog sa Kabataan sa Lalawigan, was also declared the champion and got the Best in Musicality award.

The Best in Costume title was awarded to Uling National High School, which also landed second place in the secondary division.

The other winners are the following:

Saturday's event started around 2 p.m. due to heavy rains. The parade of participants, which was supposed to start at 1 p.m., was even cancelled. Reports said the contingent from Ginatilan, Cebu was even stranded due to the heavy downpour.

The Sinulog sa Kabataan sa Lalawigan pushed through, though, after the rain stopped Saturday afternoon. Governor Hilario Davide III and Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama led the activity, which was streamed live by Sun.Star website at www.sunstar.com.ph in partnership with the Sinulog Foundation Inc., Smart Communications Inc., and Needs and Solutions. Watch the replay.

The winners in Saturday's event will join the Sinulog Grand Parade on January 19 along with the winners in tomorrow's (January 12) Sinulog sa Kabataan sa Dakbayan. (LMY/Sunnex)
