Pagasa: Possible rain over Palawan, Visayas, Mindanao-A A +A
Thursday, January 9, 2014
MANILA -- Palawan, Visayas and Mindanao will most likely have light to moderate rain and thunderstorms on Thursday, the state weather agency said.
Meanwhile, two weather systems remain to affect the country, the Northeast Monsoon (Hanging Amihan) over Luzon and the trough of a low pressure area (LPA) over Mindanao.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said in its 5 a.m. bulletin that Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated light rain.
It also said that moderate to strong winds blowing from the northeast will prevail over northern Luzon and the eastern sections of Luzon and of Visayas.
Meanwhile, "The coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough. Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from the northeast with slight to moderate seas," it added.
Gale warning is up over the seaboards of Northern Luzon.
Strong to gale force winds are expected to affect the coasts of Batanes, Calayan, Babuyan, northern coast of Cagayan and northern coast of Ilocos Norte.
Pagasa cautioned fishing boats and other small seacraft against venturing out into the sea. Larger sea vessels should also remain alert against big waves, it said. (SFP/Sunnex)
