MALACANANG said Sunday that it would be up to the court to decide if it would grant house arrest on former President and now Pampanga Representative Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo amid her reported deteriorating health condition.

Arroyo's camp reportedly claimed that Arroyo's health would improve if she would be staying in her house.

The former President is now under a hospital arrest at the Veteran's Memorial Medical Center (VMMC) in Quezon City for plunder case for allegedly misusing the intelligence fund of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office during her term.

"We will let the Sandiganbayan deal with any motion. I understand that her doctors made a statement but I'm not sure if the motion was already filed before the Sandiganbayan," deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte said in an interview over dzRB Radyo ng Bayan.

She said it would also be up to the prosecutors if they would oppose the move of Arroyo's camp.

"We will leave it to them to file their opposition or non-opposition to that particular motion if and when it is filed before court," Valte said.

Arroyo's attending physicians at VMMC, Ernesto Panaca and Antonio Sison, said that Arroyo should be given the time to recover her health outside the hospital after her operation before. Thus, she should be placed under house arrest. (SDR/Sunnex)
